Gorgeous Memi Designs
Memi Designs create quality handmade textile homewares and gifts. Our core philosophy is a belief in the beauty of simplicity. Inspiration is drawn from the natural world, both graphically and in our choice of materials.

All Memi products are made from natural materials, pure linen base farbics with 100% certified organic cotton linings and trims. The fabrics are printed using traditional silkscreen methods. Our products are made in a small, family-run factory in the south of India where textile manufacturing is a strong part of the social fabric. The owners of the factory have high standards of working condtions for their staff and also run a program called "Grant & Give" where they work with the local community to enhance livelihood, provide work training for underpriviledged people and encourage micro-enterprise development.

We care about preserving the natural environment and use 100% Greenpower in our office. Where possible, we use recyled paper in all office products, packaging and promotional material. For those emissions our business can't cut back on, we are signed up to be a Climate Friendly Business where we pay to offset our emissions.

Memi Designs is committed to producing quality products and delivering excellent service. We hope you enjoy the range!

How to: Upcycled cane furniture

Need to brighten up a room and create a cosy corner in which to relax?
We show you how to turn an outdated cane setting into a showpiece
as shown in the Geelong Advertiser Home Magazine

Geelong Advertiser
Home magazine

What you need:
·     -   Old cane furniture.
I picked up this set from Gumtree for $50.
·     -   Paint brush
·     -    Sandpaper
·     -   Enamel gloss paint.
I used Dulux Aquanamel water based gloss paint
  in Tiger Eye orange.
·     -   Damp sponge

Step 1:
Wash down the furniture with warm soapy water to remove all dirt then lightly sand down all surfaces.
Step 2:
Paint on the first coat ensuring not to put too much paint on the brush. The first coat will need to be fairly light. Wipe away any drips that occur.  Leave for paint to dry and when not tacky turn over and complete the underside. Leave overnight to dry properly.
Step 3:
Apply a generous second coat with even strokes to avoid any streaking. Again wipe away any drips and allow too dry. Only turn over to paint the underside when completely dry, if still tacky it will leave impressions in the paint.
Step 4:
Now the fun part, place furniture in desired position and decorate. I have used a mass collection of cushions from cushionspot.com.au to create a softer and relaxing feel.
